Golden Spike Ride 5-9-21
May 9 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Well this Sunday we’re gonna celebrate Mother’s Day by playing with some trains! This weekend is the 152nd anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad & they’re doing a special program up at the Golden Spike National Historic Park. They’re even bringing out the steam locomotives to recreate the historic Golden Spike picture. Thanks to the plandemic, you’ll need to purchase a ticket online at recreation.gov, search for Golden Spike commemoration event, click on the 2:30pm event on May 9th. Tickets are $20, unless you have a National Park pass, then it’s only $2. Tickets will not be available at the park, you have to buy them online prior to the event. They had 77 left when I bought mine. Staging will be at the South Town mall, in the Texas Roadhouse parking lot at 10am, KSU at 10:30. The ride will go up I-215 to Legacy Pkwy & up US-89 to Brigham City, then Hwy 13 out to the Golden Spike NHP. After the program we’ll head back to Ogden for food at Jeremiah’s on 12th St. Weather will be sunny & in the lower 60s. This is gonna be a really neat experience for anyone who loves history. Family friendly ride, kids are welcomed! I hope to see everyone there! 🤘😎
FYI, for those riders who want to join us in the Ogden and/or surrounding area, we will have a fuel stop at the Maverik, 2241 S Hwy 89, Perry, UT 84302. ETA 11:30am-12pm.
